County Auditor to Hold CAUV Information Meeting

On Tuesday, October 8th, at 7:00 p.m., Hocking County Auditor Ken Wilson, in cooperation with the Hocking County Farm Bureau, will hold a CAUV informational meeting at the Olde Dutch Restaurant lower level banquet room located at 12791 St. Rt. 664 S. Logan, Ohio.

The topic of discussion will be the State of Ohio’s increases to farmland enrolled in the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) Program.  The CAUV values for commercial farmland have been steadily rising during the last six years-since Ohio began applying its new land valuation formula.

Richard H. Hoffman, ASA, MAI, CAE, CRE, of Appraisal Research Corporation, and Rick Hoffman, Esq., of Local Government Services will speak about how the State has reformatted and updated the income and expense data used for calculating CAUV land values and also the property appraisal process.

At the request of agricultural producers, the CAUV Program was initiated in 1979.  The program’s goal was to encourage producers to keep their land productive by valuing the land based on the soils’ productivity rather than on its market value.

Farmland used for commercial agricultural production can be enrolled in the program for a $25.00 fee.
